Becoming engaged is a prelude to marriage. This means that you are committing yourself to the other person and are going through the process toward the impending date. Becoming engaged should mean that you have already assessed that this is what you earnestly want to do at this stage in your life. The commitment has been made. Your conduct and responsibilities should therefore be the same as in a marriage.

If you find at any time during this period that you actually are not ready, then you should come to grips with this truth and make the appropriate adjustment.

I think you meant "engagement." Well, that depends, if you are engaged to be married, then bettering yourself in preparation for marriage (and taking yourself off the market) would be a good start. If you are engaged as if in flying in a jet fighter, then I say, "FIRE!" (Or if you are the one engaged upon, you better do some serious evasive tactics.) This might also be a good idea in the case of an upcoming wedding... do you really know what you are getting yourself into???

Engagement is a trust in one another. And there is nothing greater than trust - even Love.

And I guess you sure are responsible to take care of the 'ring'.

Get to know your future partner. Practice being "exclusive" with them. Charm the in-laws.
