I am trying to get pregnant. I work at a hospital and have the benefits of having someone test my blood for free. I am approaching the time I should be getting my period. I felt nauseated today, so we tested my blood. The hCG level was 3.85. Last week it was zero. We tested it last week just because it was 7 days past my LH surge. My urine preg test has a very faint line. I know3.85 is considered not pregnant since it is below 5. My question is, why do I even have hCG present in my blood at all if I am not pregnant?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was told that you can have low levels of hCG in your blood even when you're not pregnant. I just am not sure why?? The line on my urine test was so so so faint. I still have not gotten my period, but am still not convinced I am actually pregnant. Thanks to everyone so far.

u r pregnant. i think as long as hcg hormone was found than that means u r pregnant. i think in the beginning of the pregnancy your levels are low than it gradually rises. its not like the second u r pregnant your hcg goes to 5. i am surprised that the hospital stafff did not tell u that.

CONGRATULATIONS

You are most probably pregnant. I would check another Hcg level again because it is supposed to double and increase to a certain level during stages of pregnancy. There is a reference chart on the internet to give you an idea of where you should be, but these are the averages. Not every woman will have the same levels and still carry to full term. My first level was 57, then doubled to 102 etc.. Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage and it took a while for the hormone to be completely untraceable.. Congrats and good luck..

Mikis post is spot on. Unless you have a strong hormone imbalance, you are pregnant. Pregnancy tests are 99.99% accurate when they show a positive result. GL with your pregnancy.
