I am trying to get pregnant. I work at a hospital and have the benefits of having someone test my blood for free. I am approaching the time I should be getting my period. I felt nauseated today, so we tested my blood. The hCG level was 3.85. Last week it was zero. We tested it last week just because it was 7 days past my LH surge. My urine preg test has a very faint line. I know3.85 is considered not pregnant since it is below 5. My question is, why do I even have hCG present in my blood at all if I am not pregnant?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was told that you can have low levels of hCG in your blood even when you're not pregnant. I just am not sure why?? The line on my urine test was so so so faint. I still have not gotten my period, but am still not convinced I am actually pregnant. Thanks to everyone so far.
