Please help. I am a single parent with a 3 year old. I got a fulltime job as a temp and my child started nursery. I receive working tax credits to help fund the child care costs. Earlier this year my temp contract ended and I have spent all my time applying for perm jobs and ringing the recruitment agency to get another contract. If I pulled my child out of nursery it would destroy them. I still haven't got a job and my payments have suddenly stopped. What will happen to me if they have found out? I'm still technically employed I just haven't had a current contract for a while. I so scared and I'm trying so hard to get another job. I have a good level of education and am willing to work. Honest answers only please xx

You are supposed to declare changes in your earnings. I would telephone and explain as quickly as possible. They may stop your payments until you are physically earning money again. Just explain that as you were still technically employed you didn't realise you had to inform them. Play dumb! I'm sure that it will resolve itself, just make it look like you are being honest by phoning immediately.

The longer you leave it, the more likely it is that they will think you were deliberately misleading them.

Good luck, it will all work out in the end. xx

you need to ring them immediately. It may be that they think that your claiming tax benefit unlawfully or just a simple misunderstanding.
Just please ring them, make sure you know what your asking for, and make sure you push for answers.
Good luck.
