You can try a natural product called Lions Roar - its available from places like Robert Dyas and also from a few places online. Its essentially lion dung which gives out the signal to other cats that there's a dominant animal in the area. It is brilliantly effective and as its natural (and no - it doesn't smell!) there's no risk around children or other pets.

in most cases, the 'cat' turds are actually hedgehog turds. Cats like crumbly dry soil and tend to bury their poos. If you see 'cat' turds in the middle of the lawn, they are hedgehog turds.
You could buy some gel or capsules from QD stores and sprinkle them over the garden as cats hate the smell. Or fill some bottles of water and stand upsight in the garden. Apparently this works too for some reason. Or scatter orange peel around.

There is a spray you can buy, I think its called "cats off" or something like that. It can be bought at Garden Centres. Spray it on top of your fences, hedgerows, earth and round the edges of paths. Cats really do hate the smell and push off somewhere else to foul someone else's garden, preferably their own.

Hi Maggie May. This is one topic thats gets me seething! Why should we have to put up with neighbours' cats sh***ing in our garden. We like to sit out there in the summer, we have spent a fair amount of money to make it look nice. The last thing we want to come across is cat s***, which we very often do. What right have neighbours got to let their animals foul OUR garden.
I'm sick to death of cleaning up other peoples cat s*** from our nice garden. What is the point of having cats if theyre just left out to roam around?? Why should we have to clean up after them. If i wanted cat s*** in my garden, then i would go out and get a cat!! We have spent money trying to stop these cats. We have bought powders, pastes, pellets, even one of those high pitched cat scarers (cost us around £21), the cats just came up closer to see what it was!! We have even tried putting tacks on the top of the fences, The horrible cats just tip toe in between the tacks!! We have tried most things, short of getting a pellet gun. Cost us an absolute fortune, and for what? To try and stop OTHER PEOPLES cats. They are intruding on our property and we just have to put up with it. They also stink the place out with their sticking urine. If i have one pet hate THIS IS IT!!

Well after my standard poodle died for two years we had cats messing in our garden. Then we bought a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and withing a month the problem had been solved.
Perhaps there's a connection?

I used to fill clear plastic bottles with water and place them in few different places in the garden(under bushes etc.,) They seemed to do the trick but I have no idea why, Someone said the slight water movement scares the cats, others say the cat sees its reflection, I honestly don't know, but worth a try.Good luck!!

I heard about lemon grass very effective against cats ...if you can plant it in your garden ,its capable of repelling them by the aroma it gives off. Also you can drink the leaves as tea as well as having a lemon scented garden thus destroying all other bad odours!!!!

We have a kitten who digs up our houseplants and wees on our doormat, someone on here suggested citrus juice and I squeezed fresh on the mat- although she doesn't have a prob with walking over it, she won't wee on it any more! But try whatever ppl suggest- it's diff for diff cats. Our cat also walks over the work surface and my mum told me to put silver foil down- it had worked for her and ppl she knows- our cat is so not bothered by it though!

Can I suggest you go to a fancy dress shop and rent a Scooby Doo costume. Then hide in your rhododendrons and leap out when the offending creature is in midstream. Do this whilst yelling "SCOOBY DOOBY DOOOOOOOO" loudly. Warn your neighbours of your proposed strategy if you don't want to be taken away by men in white coats
