How do I go about finding out which program is accessing my hard drive in real time?

You can use a program like Filemon, linked below, to find out which processes are accessing what files on your hard drive in real-time.

In Windows operating systems press the buttons Ctrl + Alt + Delete. If necessary click on Task Manager, unless Task Manager comes up automatically in your version of Windows. The list of files are files that are currently being accessed by your CPU (programs that are currently running). Searching for the file in My Computer should give you an idea of what program it is for depending on it's location. If you're still having trouble identifying the file try doing a Yahoo search.
