my new computer is installed with xp service pack 1, and doesn't have any good windows media programs, other problem is whenever I try to install windows media player 10, it just takes me to the update 11 page, it says that windows media player 10 has been upgraded to 11...problem again. I can't download windows media player 11 cause that requires xp service pack 2, and I only have 1 at the moment. so I know for sure that windows media player 10 only requires service pack 1, which i have. so please tell me how do i install it without it going directly to the windows media player 11 download?

Why don't you get the service pack 2? Its free and fixes many bugs.

It might be probably too late to download Windows Media Player 10. You need Service Pack 2 or your computer's not up-to-date. Is it because your XP is counterfeit?

Its because the current version of Windows media player is 11. You should have a version 10 setup to install version 10.

Go to download.com an download mediaplayer 10 sort then you will be able to download it
or try service pack 2 from any of yours friends and then go for media player 11

You can't install both. 11 is a upgrade for Windows Media 10. Anytime you upgrade it uninstalls the previous version. You can upgrade to 11. If you don't like it uninstall it and reinstall Windows Media 10.
