Sounds like you're looking for candied sweet potatoes.
These are REALLY easy.
for super ease use canned yams (sweet potatoes)
4 large can yams/sweet potatoes
1/2 Cup chopped pecans
1/2 Stick butter
1/2 Cup packed brown sugar
1 bag Mini marshmallows (optional)
In a skillet put the butter and brown sugar and start stirring until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves.
Turn off the heat and drain the yams. put the Yams in a 13"x9" pan that's been oiled or sprayed with cooking spray.
Pour the butter/sugar mixture over the yams then sprinkle with the pecans. Here's where you cover the whole thing with mini marshmallows if you like. Put this all in the oven at 350f for about 20-30 minutes.
I hope this helps!
