If you believe Jesus (PBUH) died on the cross. Why on EARTH do you wear crosses, bow down in church in front of crosses & cross yourselves? (Ok, I know only Catholics do some of those). But my point is, if you love Jesus (PBUH) as you claim, surely you should despise the cross & all that IT stands for? Granted you believe that Jesus died on it, but that should make you love HIM, not his method of being killed. Its like someone loving a gun because someone they loved was killed by a gun. Comments?

samssculp... - you are contradicting yourself as you DID respond. And PBUH - peace be upon him - is a sign of repect for one of God (Allah)'s greatest prophets.

The Wedding singer - that STILL doesn't explain WHY you love the method used to kill him

Erm the cross is a symbol of rememberance-just like the cresent moon and star for you! Of course it was a horrible way to die, but we're happy He died for us! We're not wearing the cross to show we are happy with the way He died, we wear it because, like I said, for remembrance!

So what's your point? And I don't bow down before crosses, my church doesn't allow that!

Do you think Jesus wants us to forget what happen to him, to forget that he gave his life for us, the cross is a remembrance. Jesus suffered tremendously, he sacrificed himself so we would be forgiving and live eternally with him. Jesus in heaven still bare the holes in his hands and feet from the nails, this you will see, it is for remembrance, always.
Kneeling is basically a respect kinda thing, from my point of understanding, and the crossing of the hands- the sign of the cross, again it's a respecting and our love and thanks for his sacrifice. God still loves us all the same whether we do these things or not, it don't matter what religion we are in, he works in them all.

I wear a cross to remind me of the suffering that man endured for me,just a reminder of what true love is.I don't claim any certain religion but I do believe that the Crucifixion happened, and that he was and is God's son.I think somethings got tangled up along the way through life because men,and women wrote what they perceived and it found its way into gospel and probably alot got shuffled around and lost because it is our nature to make mistakes, and to mimic others.Just be good to yourself and others don't judge to harshly we are all different.

The cross is a symbol of God's amazing love, grace and mercy, of Jesus' sacrifice; and because Jesus conquered death, and because of all that His sacrifice accomplished for us (adoption into Heaven as children of God) the cross is not a symbol of death, but of everlasting life.

These are the Catholics who you are referring to when you speak of bowing down before a cross, but u said that....

The cross symbolizes all the sins of the world that Jesus died for. It reminds us of how amazing our God is, that He would send his only son, Jesus, to die for our sins.

Does this help you understand, some?

The cross is a reminder of the awesomeness of God, of His sacrifice.

hope this helped!

to put it simply, yes, He died on a cross, however, that was ALWAYS the plan. Jesus knew that was what was going to happen, and it was the PEOPLE that crucified him.
The point is, is Jesus hadn't died on a cross, we wouldn't be saved, and thats specifically why He came down from heaven, and so thats why we wear it, to remember exactly what Jesus endured all for us, so that we could go to heaven!

EDIT, I already answered your question. It is not that we LOVE the cross, it is there as a sign to remember what pain Jesus went through for ME, so that I am grateful all the time and I never forget.

It reminds people of the sacrifice he made. And to be selfless etc themselves. I think it's a nice idea, but yes, possibly a bit upsetting for the big moral guy in the sky!

The cross is a symbol of Christianity, just like the Star of David is a symbol for the Jews.
