Lime or lemon juice, turmeric, honey, etc are natural bleach. They remove tan and make your skin fairer. (Note that lemon juice is more effective than lime juice for getting fair complexion). Cucumber juice can be applied on dry as well as oily skin to get fair complexion. To make cucumber juice, grate (kaddukash) cucumber (with skin) and squeeze it. Only 1/2 to 1 teaspoon is sufficient for a single application.
Drink 10 glasses of water daily. Try the following pastes, mixtures or scrubs, if done daily, you will see a difference in about 10 days. These fair complexion remedies are also good for small babies.

I normally use peroxide and lemon juice. I haven't had an issue with damaged skin, but I always lotion afterwards and drinking a lot of water will help too.

With lemon you need to be careful because if you are in the sun light you will get some mean brown spots. Contrary of what you are looking for. Use creams that are made for that.

I think the reason lemon juice or milk get labeled as "skin bleachers" is because they have alpha-beta hydroxy acids in them which exfoliate you skin, removing the dark dead skin cells.

If you want to bleach your skin, you'll most likely have to resort to something more extreme than fruit juice...something a derm would prescribe with a high hydroquine percentage.

but who wants to put that stuff on your body? Look at MJ.

it doesn't work well and dries out your hair. Give your hair a break and take it to your hairdressers or local beauty school.
