regarding firearms, moral isuues, etc..
aside from "thou shall not kill", is there any basis for the church stand?

I don't know that I have ever heard a Church stand on guns. Many Christians hunt and shoot skeet and other forms of target shooting , including myself.
The "thou shalt not kill" part is speaking of murder and we are against that. I do not and will not give up my guns until Jesus returns.
I think our founding fathers knew what they were doing when they gave us a right to bear arms. They also knew what they were doing when they gave us a republic instead of a democracy.

Depends on the church. Depends on what country/area of the country you are talking about....Not all churches teach the same thing (which seems a bit odd, because the Bible seems so clear).

Does Not Have One. Owning a Gun and "Thou Shalt Not Kill" are two separate and distinct issues.

I guess it would depend on what part of the country you're in. Here in the South, we take owning a gun very seriously, even the preachers have guns. Alot of them go deer hunting, squirrel hunting, or whatever, but in any case you just don't mess with somebody's gun around here.

The church's stand is whatever stand "big bussiness" takes......And I believe they are pretty quiet about that issue so right now so is the church!

Well, God gave us meat to eat after the flood of Noah, but killing people of course IS NOT COOL. lol I'm sure they don't approve of the later.
