have they been working on nuclear fusion energy project?
If so what is the staus of that project?
It is my understanding that a consortium in France will be building the world's first large scale fusion reactor.

No, NREL does not work with nuclear power. Nuclear is not considered "renewable."

I don't actually know what they do, but I presume you mean "renewable" not "reneable", and I imagine that they are conducting research into renewable energy. Nuclear fusion is NOT renewable energy since fuel is consumed. Renewable energy is stuff like solar, wind, wave energy, so I guess that is what they do.
