I try to look at my children the way I think God looks at me, I have learned that the relationship is very similar and I think this is by design.
I give my kids guidelines and tell them what I expect from them, I explain to them that I will provide for their needs and love them no matter what, but they have to follow certain rules.
I give them chores to do, I require them to take responsibility for there rooms and I asked them to do extra work to earn an allowance.
I punish them when they get out of line and I praise them every day for the things they do right. I show them by example how life should be lived and I explain to them when I make mistakes.
I on occasion forgive them without punishment to teach them mercy. I teach them respect for themselves and for others, and I also teach them to be careful and not to except everything at face value.
I also learned early on with my first child that God uses our children to teach us much more than we will ever be able to teach our kids.
Society will tell us many things about our kids, but follow Gods example and you will have wonderful kids.

Some parents underestimate how SMART toddlers are.
If a toddler learns that it can get away with doing "something bad" by going up to the parent and hugging them, then the toddler will abuse this knowledge, in some cases hitting the parent and immediately after, try to hug them right away. THIS IS HOW KIDS BECOME THE BOSS OF PARENTS.
Parents shouldn't feel guilty to discipline their kids.
They are sneaky and need to be put in check.

well, we should just all issue them bibles and call them angels then huh??
NO--- delusions are never an answer, the only thing that can be done is proper parenting and proper education. Religion has nothing to do with how a child is raised. Teaching someone something and them accepting it is one thing, but when you teach your kid a 2000 year lie, just as you all have done with Santa....that is WRONG.
Let the kid find out for him or herself if they want to believe or not believe. Chances are they won't believe if they are properly knowledged in science. That is why the Creationists want Evolution not to be taught in school. Because kids are finding out the truth and it is contrary to what "the bible says."

Gallup polls are staged, to reflect the persons or groups paying them.
How do we recognize and deal with rebellion in children, think back when you were at that point in life, how were you dealt with and did it help!

Children need authoratative people to act well. Personally from my experiences, kids today can be very disturbing sometimes. I don't know why, i think its cos they have been conditioned to do such stuff.

You can do the opposite of whatever those things say, like discipline your child more, don't neglect your child, and so on.
