Selective pesticides affect particular target species, whereas non-selective pesticides affect a range of different organisms.

DDT is a fat soluble agent that was widely used to combat malaria, among other things. It's use has been restricted and even banned in some countries as its effects can be widespread (killing birds and other wildlife) and even contaminate food chains.

By law you have to register for the selective service at the age of 18. The selective service puts you on record in case there is ever a need for America to conduct a draft.
