In large quantities, yes, also, there are some people that react more than others to phosphates and sulphides, it makes them sick when the drink lager or mainly white wine.

the quantities that winemakers use is so small that it shouldn't make you sick. Remebe that wine is organisc and sulphur is a preservitive. If you are allergic you will know. Ever have cheapie bottle an woken up feeling like crap? Sulphur! Bentonite is also used to fine the wines.
If you are worried then look for organic or biodynamic wines. No chemicals.

Not generally. However, what makes the statement crucial is for people who are allergic. There are a few people who cannot drink beer and wine that contains sulfites due to the allergic reaction...commonly splitting, migraine-like headaches that can last for days...sometimes worse.
If you'r not allergic, then it's not hazardous.

The quantity in most wines are very very small. So unless you are allergic to it, don't loose sleep over it.
