I had a friend recently that broke up with her boyfriend of 2 years and got over it in a few weeks, kind of seriously amazes me about how the difference is between people, I myself have not gotten over my first relationship 4.6 years ago, regardless this is far off from the question as I don't have any desire for companionship anymore.

My question is how long DO YOU THINK it takes to get over someone? Answer with should if you have or want to. I realize that this variable cannot be the same for everyone...hence the term variable...so...answer away...

I look for reasons that they gave me to get over them. If they cheated on me, for example, I can get over them in a hurry. But if they have given you little problems, it makes if tougher, and longer.

It depends on the individual, there are some people who can just walk away and then there are those that linger, sometimes forever. I have found that in those rare instances when I was not 1/2 of a couple, I did a lot more traveling, grew more personally and intellectually. Moving on, in the beginning, is scary, but you do move on. Dwelling on what was is a waste of time, go for what could be, life is too short. Keep in mind if you miss one bus, more than likely another one will come along, now if it is on a schedule, that is another thing. Enjoy!!!!

I heard that the "aftershock" of a crush can last 6-8 years! Probably you can stop liking a person after maybe 1 and up years but the chances that you'll never like that person again wouldn't be 'til after 6-8 years, my longest crush was 2 years then stopped and 2 years later had a crush on him again for another year which makes 3 years.

I was with my ex for almost two years. It has been a year since we broke up and I'm not totally over him. Although I don't want to ever get back together, I'm still not ready to start dating again.

Well..it depends on that person on how deep he/she has feelings for the other person. Usually.. 1 month should be more than sufficient.
