shocking isn't it! how far do they think they can go? they won't be happy till they've got the technology to plug a wire into your head to sift through your memories to see if you've ever commited any kind of crime,

The technology is capable of storing all read fingerprints in the national fingerprint database, obviously. However, this isn't happening in the trial, because new laws are required to further dismantle our civil liberties, before the police can proceed with fingerprinting and DNA testing the populace.

A few years ago I was a club DJ, and used to be stopped frequently on my way home from work. I wonder how long it might be, under this system, before some policeman said to me " You've been stopped a few times, haven't you?" - not long I suspect. The device itself won't store your prints, but I bet they won't be deleting them from their central database, no matter what the "rules" say, and you won't even know!

According to the BBC Radio 4 news this morning, there is already a device available to checking finger prints and it only takes about a minute to check thru' the entire database at New Scot Yard.

no the lantern is a combined scanner/comminication device the database is on the computers at the various police headquarters but when it sends your finger prints to the database they will be able to store them but unless your linked to crime you have no need to worry about it

Highly unlikely. It will only be taking the print of the TIP of ONE finger.
When you have prints done at the police station, they print the top of each finger, then the whole of each finger, then the palms, and fingers etc. so that they will have a much more accurate record of a persons prints.

Stay away from crime and you have nothing to worry about.
Only people gaining from crime will oppose this idea.
