We had our wedding a couple of weeks after we were married. As a surprise pre-honeymoon, my husband-to-be took me to Gatlinburg for the weekend and we got officially married in one of those cheesy Western Portrait & Get Hitched places. No one ever knew we were already married during the wedding and still don't know every time they come into the house and see the old west picture in the living room that is actually our wedding pic...

Nobody I know of has done this... but I do know of many people who did justice of the peace weddings and later they had a vow renewal ceremony so that they could have the "big wedding"

Just remember that you are having the "big wedding" for yourself at that point and shouldnt expect gifts (not that a person should EXPECT gifts anyway)

Good Luck

Well, I have been engaged for 17 years, does that count? He just recently told me to set the wedding date, we chose April 15, 2007. I am scared to death even though I've known him like a husband all this time. It's weird, huh?

My Parents have, 25 years to the day. it was a small ceremony that consisted of just immediate family but the reception was huge.

It's a nice gesture, real romantic and special... if you are thinking about it then go for it. I promise it won't be nearly as expensive as the first time around.

In order to keep the marrage a marrage...you better try to keep it new is all I have to say!

That's what I try to do after 18 years of marrage...if you can't keep it new...she try to find something fresh that's new. You know women and men alike in that respect. We're only human after all.

Keep it going and good luck!
