Could be plantar fasciitis, a stone bruise, bone spur, arthritis, or retrocalcaneal bursitis. Depends on whether the pain is below the heel, back of the heel, or side of the heel. When asking medical questions it is best to give as much information as possible, include your age, how long you have had the symptom, what it looks like (swelling, redness, etc.), what relieves the symptom and what makes it better, etc, etc.
Solution? depends on the problem. Try wearing good shoes with arch supports, or if this is a problem that has persisted for a while, see a doctor.

Probably plantar fasciitis...otherwise known as heel spurs. You can go to Webmd.com and enter "Plantar fasciitis" in the search bar. There are several articles to read. In the past, people sometimes had surgery for this, but it is not very effective. There are exercises and other treatments that work well. There are heel inserts you can buy or have prescribed by a foot doctor (podiatrist), but my experience is these are not great either. The exercises are very helpful. Also, wearing shoes with a VERY high arch helps tremendously...there are shoes made with this in mind. The best are Cherokke Rockers. Just do a Yahoo search and enter "Cherokee Rockers" and it will list several places to order them...or call local stores. You need to see a podiatrist...they deal with this all the time.. In the mean time, one exercise that helps is...before getting out of bed or standing up from a chair, stretch your leg out straight in front of you and stretch your foot by bringing your toes toward your body as far as possible. Repeat several times and hold for several seconds. Good luck.

Maybe they are heel spurs. You need to go to a foot doctor and maybe have them X-rayed. And then they may have to be removed.

It may be due to some injuries, tendonitis or some rheumatic pain. Please consult a doc if the pain persists.
