I am a diabetic and I take Lyrica which is for neuropathy pain. One of the side effects is swelling. My ankles, feet and legs all the way to my knees stay so swollen I can hardly walk sometimes. It has gotten very painful. I feel like I have to have this medecine though that pain was unbearable. What can I do other than learning to live with it?

I don't think this is something you should just learn to live with. I highly recommend making an appointment with your doctor and go over different medications for you. You need to keep an open mind.
Pain pills often do have side effects, but surely there is something else you can take that won't cause your pain to be unbearable.

You need to change medicacines Immediately >.> Well,.. try to as fast as posible anyways.

Yes, this can be dangerous. The problem is this is a sign you shouldn't be takeing that medicine because your body is haveing a bad reaction. The swelling is a sign of one problem,.. then it will cause other problems. Some times if this goes on for too long it becomes permenant. It might also be a sign that something very bad hs happened or will happen soon,.. in your body,.. likely to organs.

This just ignore it and go on about trying to get comfortable thing is how those advertisements come to be years later " Did you or a loved one take...? Symptoms included,... and in some cases death".

may be preeclamsia starting. Prop your feet up for a few hours and use ice packs (have someone else bringe them to you and take them away so you keep your feet up) if the swelling does not go down by morning again, go to the doc or ER right away. Some swelling is normal but it should atleast go down a lil bit if you put your feet up. All through my 3rd trimester my ffet were constantly swollen but after sleeping they would at least go down a lil bit sometimes not all the way but for sure improvement.

It means the circulation isn't working right.

You need to check with your doctor (not an emergency room visit, but call and make an appt.)

It can be a problem - and can get complicated because you are diabetic.

Best of luck.

massage can help improve circulation. also make sure you get some exercise. anything that will improve your circulation will help. poor circulation is a problem that many diabetics have. also you can ask your dr. if there is any different medicine you can take.

Go back to your doctor that prescribed the medication for an adjustment in the medication, or a change.
