and free....?
Personally I dont think it is a coincidence, I think its God's blessing. Perhaps the Christians you curse are the ones who help bring that blessing into all of your homes. If you have an "OPEN MIND" you must accept that as a possiblity, even a samll one. The closed mind is convinced it is always right. Thats my thought and I am entitled to that opinion, I remind you.
As you all entitled to yours, and I'd like to hear any thoughts on the matter....they WILL be received with an open mind.
thanks for respectful, clear answers!

Although I must admit that America has a lot of good points and good people (religious and non-religious), I have to agree with Kimberli. America houses 5% of the world's population yet produces 25% of the world's CO2. This way of conducting environmental policy will eventually wipe out all nature and mankind. The reason America is abundant has nothing to do with god, it has to do with greed, and shortsightedness. I'm pretty sure there's something in the bible that speaks against those things. And wasn't there something about not killing other people too? Why do the US have such a large army then?

Correlation is not evidence of causation. A combination of natural resources, technological advancements, education, climate, fertile lands, abundant space to expand, diverse population (culture and religion), and political factors, the role government takes to encourage progress which provide our living standards and great county.
Conservative religious standards have influence on the individuals success to live a good life, but lifestyle and standard of living are not comparable. Actually, as the world views the US, they may believe exactly the opposite of this proposition. They believe this is a chaotic and morally decrepit country lost in liberty to live as infidels, non-believers. Our deeds are in the good graces with the Devil. We are partners wtih dark forces.
They believe the US is a morally weak and gluttonous society, that we have no disipline or will power.

It is no coincidence. God blesses those who do His will.
But America has ridden on the past for a long time, God is a bout to remove His hand of blessing if we do not return to His ways. He has given us a lot of warnings, and we just say that is nature, or blame it on some other thing.
I am telling you 9/11, Katrina, are just 2 of the many warnings. America who I dearly love and have shed blood for in the Army, is about to receive a judgment like this world has not seen for a long time. A judgment of Biblical proportions. We must do 2 Chronicles 7; 14 or we are in for a rude awakening.
Don't get me wrong, I love America, and would defend her again if called upon. But I do not like the things God has shown me and others that are coming if we do not repent and turn back to God soon.

I agree with 'stone rolled'. America IS prosperous, in comparison to many other places in the world, and only because America was founded on a biblical Constitiution. But she is living on borrowed time and must repent...God cannot continue to bless a nation that 'lawfully' kills babies in their mothers' wombs, promotes pornography, amongst many other things. I pray that the Lord will be merciful....PS I write from a country in just as much need of God's mercy, South Africa. Please pray for mercy on South Africa.

Um first off, why should we brainwash the rest of the world, I dont know anyone in any other countries, and I dont care if they all died tommarow, I dont care if they are religious, i dont care if they think exactly the way I do. I simply have not met them therefore they do not exist to me. This nation is not so abundant either, our government is full of backstabbing degenerate hypocrits, our cities are over-run with gangs and our farmers who are feeding this country are starving to death and the people they feed mock and laugh at them for being red-necks and hicks. This nation you speaak of needs an enema.

True Christians were never, and are not concerned with materialistic "abundance". If thats what you mean? Rather, true Christians, Jesus being perhaps the best example, have always, and does embrace materialistic poverty in exchange for spiritual richness.

Abundant? What, exactly, does that mean? Sure, we've got a lot of money, but that's due more to capitalism and free trade than god (where in the bible does it explicitly talk about capitalism?). So long as you leave your terms vague, there's no way for you to be wrong. Be more specific; state exactly what you mean by "more abundant" and show how Christianity is the cause of it.
Don't forget - correllation does not equal causation.

I think there *has* to be one place that is more "abundant" than others .... and that place would naturally have the ability to reach out globally to spread whatever they choose to spread. I don't think America is "blessed" by God because it is spreading the gospel. God didn't create religion, mankind did. There is value in all belief systems, even atheism. You *have* to believe in something. All paths will eventually get you to the same destination. That's how God set it up, and I don't think he favors any one of them. He's waiting for all of us to come home and we'll all arrive eventually.
But you are correct sir, you are entitled to your opinion, and I truly respect it, even though I don't agree with it.
Rock on, Dude!
