What ingredients in it causes that peculiar aftertaste? I have never experienced it in any other chocolate.

The main process for the determination of taste in chocolate is called "conching." This is a procedure by which the processed cocoa beans are crushed, rolled and kneaded (sometimes for days). The process allows various acids to evaporate and impurities in the beans to be removed. If done thoroughly, it contributes to the overall smoothness of the taste. High quality chocolates are conched sometimes for nearly a week. To save on costs, low end chocolates are barely conched at all. This is what gives low end chocolates a taste that is somewhat acidic, and leaves a kind of sharp cheezy aftertaste in the mouth, as there are still acids and impurities present. I think this is what you're experiencing.

Hope this answer helps. Cheers, mate.

Possibly too much sugar, and the fat content is a little weird. Maybe too much wax, too.

(-: I love Japanese bar chocolate -- Morinaga or Meiji. I tried a Hershey's bar afterward, and almost couldn't finish it. But, hey, it was chocolate. I forced myself.
