Wow - that is a tough question.
If the two of you are still close, I'd just ask outright, but be prepared a bit of heart break if the answer is no...
You're at a really difficult time in life (I remember it...) and just recognizing that your head and heart are disagreeing is pretty impressive - I don't think I was that mature back then.
Asking outright gives you a quick resolution to your dilemma.
Keeping your options open, but maintaining some display of affection (holding on) may drag out the pain.
If your head says move on... then you probably should - your heart will move on eventually as well, and you'll certainly find someone else, even if it doesn't feel like it now... (sounds sooooooo cliched...)
Good luck,
-dh

You should invest your time in other things. Your what?...13? 14?. In any event your too young to be so serious about a guy. I'm not saying your not supposed to be thinking about or liking guys because that is apart of being a teenager and it is expected. But just don't get soo serious to where your stressing your self about boy problems. Believe that time will come, and it's no luxury..enjoy being a child while you can, minus the adult characteristics.

8th grade is way too young to be stressing yourself out over a boy, hon. There's enough drama in relationships when your older. I'd talk to this boy, see what he thinks is going on. Even if he isn't interested in a relationship right now, try to keep his friendship. Maybe as you both get older, you'll get closer again. On the other hand, maybe not, so don't sit by the phone mooning over him. Get out there and enjoy your life. Maybe you'll find a boy you like better........but don't rush into anything.

show him why he fell in love with you in the first place. tell him you love him.show him that their is still love in your heart.also, just ask him do you still have thee same feelings for me that u had for me in 6th grade and depending on his answer it can change the whole situation...the point is if he says no it may hurt, but you r just going to have to move on.That's life and even the people that u love u let go.....you guys may still want to be friends. What you choose is your decision i am not persuading you on anything .good luck and a good gut is what mi great grandmother used to..o i miss her

I think you should take him as he was, a stepping stone.
Find yourself someone who is interested in you now instead of trying to get this guy reinterested
