I'm curious what my 4 year old is thinking or going through. He's extremely smart. I don't know what his functioning level is yet... I want to help him to get better, so if there's any suggestions on how I can help him to focus without feeling pressured, that too would be extremely helpful.

im not sure, im not autistic but there is a boy in my class who is... when i was younger he was obssesed with dinosaurs. sometimes he would pretend being one and actually scare little kids but running around the playground screeching. he knows every kind of dinosaur. he gets perfect grades and is a a very functional boy. i wouldnt worry about your boy. hell be fine. if you really want to help him you should tok with a doctor. just amke sure he gets lots of your support and attention just like any other child needs especially when hes at that age. its good that hes already smart too. if he can keep that up you couldnt even tell hes different. thats how the boy in class is right now. he just dresses a little funny and thats all.

I Have a nephew who is 10 years old and is autistic. He does attend a special school in upstate new york. He is extremely smart...I don't know too much about it but watching him amazes me...he loves to play games, computer or the handheld games...and is great at it. I would seek information regarding autism at the library and also would inquire about schools, they can and will be more than happy to help you understand and deal with the good and bad days your son will go through . I personally think they are angels with an intelligence beyond our capability of understanding.God Bless you and your son.

My brother is autistic. Whatever you do, do not call him autistic; just treat him like a normal kid. If you want him to focus you have to make it fun. Do not yell at him or get angry. This will make him withdraw more and more into his own world. My brother is very smart. He knows all about cars, guns, aircraft, and the world wars.

If someone is autistic they will do the same action for many times.Normally they tend to be more clever than normal kids.

You might want to buy some physcology book and read them up for more details.
