just don't feed him. He'll go next door or a few doors away to someone who will take care of him. May take a couple of days for him to get the point, but cats are very cluey - they know where they are not wanted. He may have been abandoned since he looks healthy.

This is the sort of thing animal control is supposed to take care of, but before calling, I'd make sure the people running it in your city care about cats. A local animal control here was run by someone that didn't like cats, and thus many that were brought in were put to sleep before the owners could find their beloved pets. Our family Vet though, is very kind and loving toward all animals, and will safely house lost animals until the owner finds them, so the poor kittie may very well be safer at a vets office near where he followed your husband and son from. If he has a tracking device, the vet would also be able to use that to find his owners.
As cruel as it sounds, the others that answered not to feed him are right. Cats are very good at finding their way back home, but if you feed him he may very well try and make himself at home with more than one home. He should go back home when he gets hungry though.
Best of luck to you and the cat. I hope it all works itself out.

Put up some signs, if he looks healthy he may belong to some one and he got lost. If not do the poor guy a favor and take him in to get fixed and let him stick around. He may just need a family and is really lonley. He may not even want to come inside your house just have a place to "kick back". I have a cat that does that, he was really sweet to me but he used to be mean to my "inside" cat. So I had him fixed and now he lives outside my back door. He loves it were he is and never tries to come in or fight w/ my kitty.

this is something I easily have on no account seen over right here. the front door became into for travellers, and that they may be led into the residing room, a room regularly utilized by the mum and dad interior the evenings. young ones forbidden. Our get entry to became into to stroll around to the returned of the domicile and enter there, into the kitchen. often the front door basically could be opened with a key from the exterior, and a turn button on the interior, so it became into constantly locked. The returned door became into constantly unlocked and as far as i can bear in mind, no longer even locked in one day. The origins at the back of the turn 21 and get the substantial of the door is imprecise, however the context became into that once you became 21 you won the substantial to the front door, and could come and circulate as you extremely joyful, an indication of adulthood. That became into the belief I lived with interior the multiple properties I lived in as I grew up.

I would call around maybe someone knows where he belongs. You're right not letting him in, because there is a slight chance of him eating your babies. Instints Where did he follow them from? Maybe they could take him back to that same area. If you do find his owner mention the idea of having the boy fixed. It'll keep him from roaming and making more unwanted babies plus keep him safer too.!

He may be neutered first off. My male cat is and he still has his balls. Just keep him until you run an ad in the paper. He seems to like you.

post signs up in the neighborhood saying you found a lost cat, also call local vet clinics and let them know. the other thing you can do is take an ad out in the local paper also saying you found a lost cat, most papers won't charge you for this. and don't feed him if you do he will never leave.

Look up local cat shelters, DO NOT give the cat to the humane society, they euthanize cats that no one wants, DO NOT take it there!
