Can you love someone without knowing them?

You fast, pray, read the Bible and think only on good things and then wait for God's grace to do the work for you. He's never failed me yet. Esther, I love your frankness of the battle against the flesh. It must be crucified daily! If you feed the dove nature instead of the dog nature, the dove nature (good) will thrive.

Yes if you love others as God loves you (John 15:12). God loves sinners and those who revile you sin against you. You therefore have to love the revilers. Jesus also commanded us to love our enemies and bless those who curse us (Matt 5:44). God has put His love inside us to help to love others the way He loves us. If you obey God you will have His grace to do it. It may help you to love those who revile you if you consider them of not knowing what they do like Jesus did on the cross. Yes you can love someone you do not know when you consider him as God's precious creation.

Love in the bible means action, not feelings. It means to still act toward people that aggravate you in a polite way and continue to treat them well. It means to do things to benefit them.
Yes, I love people that I don't know by writing to them in prison or sending money to help others in third world countries. God's word says love is an action, not a feeling.

It's a nice idea but an ideal that I am probably incapable of. Still, I try to like most people until they prove that they are not worth being liked.

I've done it for maybe ten seconds at a time. To maintain that feeling, now that is something I have not attained.
