They are called a Man of Honor...usually they will wear a black tux and a vest and tie to match the bridesmaids. The groomsmen will be in a different color so that the Man of Honor stands out.

The correct term to describe you is a man of honor. It would help if there was a girl on the grooms side for you to walk with. Most likely you will be able to have a vest and tie in the same color as the groomsmen or the same color as the bridesmaids dresses.
Do not fret. You will look great and do grreat.Good luck!

RE:
What to call a male bridesmaid?
I've been chosen by a good friend to be her maid of honor for her wedding, but I am a man, and we can't come up with the right word for me.
Man of Honor?
Best Man-Maid?
Footman of Honor?
Best Footman?
Bride's Butler?
Serious and humorous suggestions are most welcome. Random...

I think they're calling them 'brides attendants' and grooms attendants' rather than bridesmaids and groomsmen in my friends wedding. Sounds good to me at least. :)

Bridesmen. My wife had a bridesman at our wedding, and I had a groomsmaid. Although in all honestly usually just calling everyone in the wedding party an "attendant" is fine.

I like "Man of Honor" or "Male of Honor" the best! That's great that your friend has chosen you. What an honor, especially since it's breaking some of the "traditional" rules :o)

AWESOME--
I have seen " honor attendant"' suggested elsewhere
you could use whatever you want
I was """"best man'"'' for a friend of mine a few years back- I am female- as they were having a JOP ceremony - with only the couple & witnesses- he had asked me to be his witness
honor witness
brides witness
**brides lackey** ( servant)) -- lol
brides mate
