I am worried that it could be at the heart of some problems, but she won't tell me. Sorry to ask. I swear I'm not out to gauge or judge, but I am just terrified to empathize with the pain she might be going through if my instincts are even partly correct.

What might be some signs that a girl has been raped? What sorts of nuances might manifest themselves in a relationship?

Like I said, from what I know, this is starting to add up and I am scared as hell.

i think that varies with each victim of rape

the best thing you can do is to be patient and don't try to force yourself on her at any cost

don't be scared..it's not about sex, it's about trust..if she was raped, she can get past it but it will take time and serious counseling but if you care about her, you will be understanding and patient because i know it sounds corny, but love does conquer all

I'm so sorry that this might have happened. One BIG sign is that she suddenly won't want to be held or will become extremely jumpy. Also she will probably back far away from any man that gets into her personal space. The answer that "Dove" gave is also excellent.

Whatever it is, it is her right to tell you and you shouldn't be guessing. Don't force this issue on her and just be supportive, a good listener and a friend and if the time is right and she wants to...she'll tell you. Otherwise its her secret, not yours.

I don't know the signs off hand, but this website might help you. It used to be called the Rape,Crisis, and Abuse center.

Do not ask her just chear her up with all the nice things. Regarding yourself just ditch that thought from your mind because that would make you miserable.
