From your question, I assume you suscribe to the humans came from monkey's magazine.
Cause if you subscribed to the Biblical truth, you would know and understand that evan back in Adam and eve's time they may not of had a physical book, but they had God pretty much right there and knew very much of and about Him.

thats a very good question, but you're introducing a deeper and more vague topic of: can people be blamed for things they didn't know were bad?
i kno this doesn't answer ur question...probably b/c ur question is too morally challenging. On one hand, we'd like to think that those people would meet their punishment or w/e, but on the other hand, no one can blame them 4 not being monotheistic since that concept wasn't introduced until 2000bc (Avraham).
i guess for those people who died b4 the beginning of monotheism, their reward in eternity would be based on their relationship with the physical earth (ie they're in hell if they ever murdered someone etc).

A lot of mainstream Christians will tell you yes, but this goes against all logic and reason. I believe hell is reserved for people who actually deserve it, people who cause great pain and misery to other people while they are on earth. It doesn't make sense for a good person who helped other people and didn't do much wrong while they were on earth to go to hell just for not believing in God as Christians see him, especially in a time before we even knew about the Christian idea of God. It makes no sense, and it kind of insults God to think that he would not understand this concept and send people to hell anyway.

Remember that time is a dimension created by God. Once you die, you are outside of the physical realm. I don't think he will punish someone for being born too early... So I think He knows whether that person will accept Him or not. I guess this explains the illustration where Jesus goes to Hell to preach to them (which I have never heard before nor know if it's true).

Hell doesn't exist yet. Hades was in existence and still is. John the Baptist first preached to the people in Hades. Then Jesus went to Hades and set the captives free.
Keep in mind that Jesus is God, and there is no time limitations with God. So, was that for that time only, or is it for all times? Who knows, only God knows the answer to that one.

Since God the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit were all together at the BEGINNING OF CREATION, then there is no before monotheism.

According to the bible, the souls that died before Christ and who didn't follow Judaism went to hell. When Christ finished His work on earth, He went to hell to preach to them to give them a second chance to accept Him. That was the only time people did and will get a second chance to go to heaven after they die. Once Christ finished His ministry we are held to faith in Him.
