You can give her chamomile tea to relax her and help her sleep. Pour it out of the teabag, and mix 1/2 teaspoon in a little bit of canned food, such as Cesar's or mighty dog.. this will relax her much as cough syrups relax the bronchial tubes, and ease her cough.. It is safe, and was recommended to me by my vet many years ago..
You will find it in any grocer's tea section.

Your puppy will be fine. I bought a Yorkie once that had kennel cough and ear mites. I went back to the breeder and presented her with the vet bill. She paid.
Only give the Yorkie what your vet has prescribed. You are dealing with a tiny, tiny little dog. If it doesn't get better, call the vet back (they usually do not charge for phone calls after a visit) and see if there is something else you can do for the puppy.
I raised Yorkies for a decade (my first one was the proud father of all the litters). I never had a health issue with any of "my" puppies...but these puppy mills have tons of issues.
Let me say this one more time...DO NOT medicate this little puppy without approval from the vet...PLEASE.

well it is bad she got the kennel cough at this early age, but it happens. ok now with her being on this medication, you don't want to mix any meds with out asking your vet first. now if you would have asked this question before you took her to the vet i would have told you to use robitussin for her, which works really good. i work at a boarding kennel and sometimes we get a dog that comes in with it and before we get it to a vet we give the dog the robitussin for the cough. she will cough for about another 3-4 days and then the cough will start to go away. but keep giving her the meds and if she keeps coughing then you can call your vet to find out what else you can do. wow 2 months old that is a shame for her getting it this young. did you get her from a breeder that breeds in a kennel, if you did then breeders like that do not vacsinate for the kennel cough because they feel that their pups won't get it. good luck

You should call your vet. back and O.K. the cough syrup. It might need to be seen again. Kennel cough is rough on little, young puppies. Keep it as quiet as you can so it won't cough due to getting over exerted. Ask your Vet. about it's diet too. Where did the puppy get it? I worked in a Vet. clinic for 5 years and only saw one case of it. If you got it from a breeder or pet store you need to contact them so they will know to look for it in their other dogs. Good Luck and take good care of the little one.

keeping her quiet will help minimize the amount of coughing she is doing. yes there are some other things that you can give her to help, but best if you contact your vet for these and dosing info. since she is so small. the vet prob put her on an antibiotic like amoxicillin. be sure to give all the meds as this can turn into pneumonia if she doesn't get better. call your vet in the am
good luck

most vets give hydrocodone for the cough but it may not be safe is she is too small...ask the vet...take her in the bathroom and run a hot shower, see if the steam will help her....ps. if you took her out in public, to petsmart, had friends touch her etc, then YOU exposed her to it....a puppy has to gather some immunity before it is around sickness. don't take her around until she's at least 5 months or 6 lbs. if the steam doesn's help, try a little(stressing little) vicks vapor rub on a washcloth in her bed, see if that helps. DO NOT put it on her. good luck

The "Kennel Cough" will clean via itself. you're able to desire to handle the indications and in basic terms carry out. Ask your Vet a pair of stable antibiotic to avert any secondary infections. We use Clavamox pills. Then for the coughing we use Hycodan. this could be a narcotic that works very speedy to alleviate the coughing. This combination would be your superb wager. some days and she or he would be superb. undergo in concepts that's contagious to different canines................ i could get off the Ronaxan and use the Clavamox. stay removed from the cough syrup. Many incorporate caffeine, acetaminophen. Her throat will sense extra useful on the Hycodan. stable success.

Go by your Vets recommendation and don't add anything you hear is good without checking with your Vet about whether it is okay to use as well because it could be dangerous to give a puppy, especially a little one like you have, any OTC meds. I know it is miserable to have your baby sick and I hope she is well soon.

Oh NO,,never human meds unless it is perscribed by the vet.Call the vet & tell him it doesnt seem to be working. It may just need time to work.I think what he perscribed is an anti-biotic & the whole perscription must be used to be cured.I also hear that the last anti-biotics taken are the ones to finish the job so to speak.Never mix meds.
