Okay i have 4 pits, the oldest 3 were on a heavy chain ( no i dont fight them nor abuse) for short periods and treadmill workouts for muscle build they're now 80+ each, it worked wonders. but the youngest(1yr.) hasn't grown much since september he's about 60lbs. I'm pushin' for 80+ for the annual show in our town for best bully. any suggestions for a quicker muscle build....and does NuVet really help? and please dont come with im trying to fight my dogs or im cruel because of the chain.

So, you`re pushing for 80+ lbs. What town has an annual pig show? You`re not going to add 20 lbs of muscle to any dog, just more fat of which the dogs probably have enough of already.
Bet the dogs are Gotti/ Razorsedge/ Greyline/Watchdog or any combination thereof. There is no such thing as a quick muscle build that is healthy for a dog especially lines that are known for not being game, bred for color or looks, lack of endurance etc. My numero uno was 52lbs. conditioned weight and a GD/CH that was descended from "old school" lines that epitomized what an APBT was bred for. There is nothing wrong with wanting to own a dog that looks good but with all show and no go, people are getting further and further away from what dogmen spent their entire lives building and improving upon.
The above mentioned "lines" of dogs are nothing more than a bigger is better ego trip which has backfired and the market is flooded with these dogs and the newness is starting to wear off. What kind of Mastiff or possibly American Bulldog was mixed to produce these "pigbulls" is really not important as one of them will never see my yard and I consider them to be curs and are`nt worthy to be Apbt`s because in fact, they are not.

How big were the 60lb bully's parents? His grandparents? I attend weightpulls, and the bullys we pull against range from under 30 to 110 pounds at these events.

Perhaps the dog simply is of a smaller lineage than your other dogs and simply has reached his full growth.

Do you have your dogs pull weights for exercise? If not, look into this activity. A properly fit harness is absolutely required, along with learning the correct technique for training them. If you walk your guys while they drag a tire, the muscles will build pretty quickly.

And the bullys I have encountered LOVE to pull! It is a way to 'pit' them against something without hostilities! :-)

Have you wormed him lately? Also have him checked for heartworms. These will keep him from growing.

I hope you keep you dogs on chains, a little 4 year old boy was killed by 2 pit bulls last night.

Its probably genetics. Pit Bulls are not always big. ALL the bad *** lookin dogs I know of arn't much bigger than that pup. Its not size that counts in a Pit its heart, smarts, and attitude that counts!

Send her to my house. In one year of bringing home a underweight full grown husky/rott mix from the pound he had a weight gain of 60 pounds. He went from 43 pounds to 104 pounds. LOL Probably not the type of weight gain you are after though.
This was supposed to be my guard dog--if I could just figure out how to get him off my couch and do something, anything!
