Male, 25 yrs old, white, 170 lbs, healthy
I suffer from sciatic (nerve) pain. The pain is centered in my right buttock cheek. It comes and goes but it is easy to "tweek" my leg and the pain is quite terrible. I've had this since april '05. I've gone to the dr, physical therapy and when those didn't work, I went to a pain clinic where I was given three cortizone shots. The shots worked great and my leg felt fine for a while. Now the pain keeps coming back.
I don't want to rack up a bunch of dr bills, pop a bunch of pills or take painful shots. I need to find a cost-effective and perminate way of eliminating the pain. Any suggestions?

Without a doubt a Chiropractor is your best bet, and they often
prescribe natural products for pain and/or inflammation.
Some chiropractors are even willing to work with you as far as your financial situation is concerned, mine did, and sometimes
charged me far less than a usual visit.
Please go to a chiropractor, you'll be glad you did..

Any well trained chiropractor will make sure you understand that at least 75% of your recovery will depend on how faithful you are, in doing the proper stretching at home. If you depend on the Dr. to do all your stretching for you, it will be a long and tedious process to get you back to normal.

Unequal muscle tightness along the back (spinae erector muscles) are carrying too much of a load on one side. As you have experienced, meds do not change structure.. and this is the imperative factor in your case..

I suffered from sciatic pain for years, went to a chiropractor and got nowhere with that. I started lifting weights and doing a lot of stretching and things improved. I quit doing chores that aggravated it, like sweeping, mopping, lawn mowing, and raking. That was over fifteen years ago and I rarely have a flare up. I would avoid surgery at any cost--I have not heard of any success stories and it is very risky.

I have the same thing. Finishing my 15th out of 20 scheduled visits to the chiropractor, having traction done & electric stimulation. Pain free w/ no drugs for the 1st time in 2 years.

A good Chiropractor can identify and treat the underlying mechanical cause of your pain. It may be time to see your family Chiropractor.

Best wishes and good luck.

Have you tried a chiropractor? They can use a traction machine to take off some of the pressure.

You need to seek the opinion of a neurosurgeon to see if you are a candidate for surgery. The longer you wait the worse it will get, having more and longer episodes that will eventually cause nerve damage.
