(ALL immigration) back to 200,000 people per year, as it was in 1965? There will always be illegal immigrants coming here. But, it can be reduced dramatically by deportation and by taking away the incentives to come here. I believe the USA must reduce ALL immigration, both legal and illegal, back to what it was before 1965 (200,00 per year).

scallywag - i hope everyone doesn't hold your negative views about contacting their senators and representatives. If no one reacts, nothing will be done. They need to KNOW 'we' KNOW what is ahead for our children and grandchildren and we know what can be done to lessen the depletion of our social structure and our natural resources. We all can't just throw our hands up and say 'what's the use, nothing will be done'. something WILL be done if we make a big enough issue out of it. This issue is much bigger than just 'illegal' immigration alone. It is not about IMMIGRANTS. It's about the NUMBERS of immigrants coming into the USA annually. Then having children, our children and their children all together will be more than the USA can sustain in natural resources and the social fabric of our country. We won't be able to keep up with the overpopulation and provide schools, water, farmland, oil, etc. See the video. It is all very clearly explained.

California, with it's large population of immigrants, already must build one elementary school per DAY IN PERPETUITY to keep up with the growing population in that state. With over 800,000+ immigrants entering the USA annually the rest of the USA is headed in the same path. It will only get worse as those people along with the present population grows to enormous numbers. We need to reduce the immigration numbers in order to gain control over the population growth beseiging our country while we still can.

Limit immigration YES.
I already have contacted my state senator. I know him personally. He agrees it is a real problem & a tax burden for all tax payers. Since illegals don't pay taxes. The problem is getting congress to all agree on what to do about it.

Legal immigration is already curtailed ... at the moment, for example, British people cannot even apply for immigration, since their quota is exceeded ... they can't even enter the diversity lottery ... so no extra kudos for being staunch allies ...

The illegal immigration though is another kettle of fish ... if there was no illegal immigration (one can't dream, can't one?), this country could absorb more legal immigrants, who would also have had their backgrounds and financial eligibility checked and have their medical examinations done ... in other words, they would not be a drain on our resources ....

I sure would. That is if I thought it would do one bit of good. It won't.
I think immigration should be cut to zero. We have enough problems without inviting more.
If they , Senators and Representatives have to be told to curb immigration and get the illegals out of this country they sure as hell don't need to be in office. That surely applies to most of them. We are in a world of hurt.

Unfortunately,my state thought it would be a good idea to vote for all the candidates that support illegal immigration.I did my best, but my voice was over powered.I will continue to let them know my views though.

Legal immigration has already been reduced below what is reasonable and just: American citizens who marry foreigners have to jump through hoops to get K-1 (fiancé) and K-3 (marriage) visas; US firms that need to hire specialized staff have to spend large sums on lawyers. The diversity visa lottery is insignificant.

So you must be referring to illegal immigration. The only way to reduce it to manageable proportions is for the US to become a police state, with mandatory ID cards, arbitrary checks by police on the street (whcih will inevitably be on the basis of race), serious penalties to landlords and employers who rent to or hire aliens without work permits or citizens without ID cards.

(There will also be problems with certain entitled foreigners: First Canadians ("Indians" and Inuit) who have Jay Treaty (1794) rights; US noncitizen nationals from Ameican Samoa (pop 65,000) and Swain Island (pop. 37); Belau and Marshall Island; persons with complex status; certain diplomatic families, etc. A bureaucracy will have to be set up to determine rights in individual cases and answer questions from employers and landlords.)

Human rights, civil rights and asylum rights will have to be curtailed and treaties violated or abrogated.

Something will have to be done about all the farmers and businesses that go out of business. http://snurl.com/pickers Some of these are major contributors to the Republican Party. Jobs will have to be found for Republican senators and congresspersons who lose their jobs because of angry constituents.

If your proposal becomes reality, expect a sharp fall in economic output and in lifestyles.

But what do I care: I live in Switzerland where such controls already exist. And prices reflect that fact.

I think we need to reduce the number of American companies that knowingly hire illegals which would kill motivation for coming here if Americans won`t hire them for fear of jail. Maybe then they would stay and fix their own country.
