I've never understood why any atheist would ponder or struggle with the thought of trying to convert a christian to atheism.

As an atheist, one should be content with his own enlightenment and be absolutely removed from the desire or perceived need to convert anyone to his belief.

I,ve certainly felt grossly imposed upon when christians try to convert me. I do not believe that, in this matter, turn about is fair play. It's not worth the effort nor the inevitable frustration.

Of course, if one seeks a practical reason to convert christians to atheism, it would be to prevent the reinstatement of the "Inquisition." This, I fear, has been the direction American christianity has been heading toward, helter-skelter, for the past 20 or 30 years. It may have cooled just recently, but the fire still burns not far beneath the surface.

Unfortunately, christians far outnumber atheists so effecting a meaningful mass conversion of christians to atheism is not a very practical goal.

Arm yourself, find your own cave in the mountains, and hunker down 'til the christian zealots have sated themselves to the full and peace reigns once again.

Peace, brother

Hey, this is one of the best questions I've read here in Religion category. I'm a Christian, specifically Catholic.

Some religion try to 'brainwash' Catholics by citing the 'wrong' teachings of the Catholic Church. Some, try to impress us by their personalized programs.

But Atheist, simply tells us that God does not exist. Period! So what's next after converting to Atheism? Now, you see the difference?

Forget the truth Christian brainwashing is seldom affected.
Facts and logic are defied by simple God (sic) endorsed
transscripts . less autograph as par . And focusing on science seems to not matter although they won't give up the benefits .
Working for a better world lost it's appeal when killing came into vogue for the supposed Christian . I figure be like a Cynic gain self control and independance and evenually example will shed enough light without the confrontaion of so many challenging words and patience will open the door to the future lives of truth.
peace out enjoy life in truth

Well religion is really quite a personal thing, but suppose this Christian is at risk of hurting himself due to his religion- suppose he fasts 6 days a week, then you should get him some help, professional help.

If you are just having fun with friends trying to convert each other, then you can ask them to investigate the religion of FSM, or Pastafarianism. they have a site at www.venganza.org

The best way would be to prove to them that God does not exist. If you realize that you cannot do that, try to show them that Jesus Christ never rose from the dead. When you see that you cannot do that either, try showing them how none of the Bible's prophecies have come true. No luck there? Maybe explain how wonderful all the nations that do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior are doing. Or point out how much better public schools are now that school days no longer start with communal prayer. If none of that works, and it's really important to you, offer them all your worldly goods if they agree to renounce their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Too bad you're an atheist, cuz if you weren't, you could pray for them to become as wise as you are.

Why would you want to do that? Trying to convert someone not to believe in god is as bad if not worse than trying to convert someone to believe in god. Live and let live.

You can't force or seduct anyone to convert into any religion its just inhuman.

I rather doubt you can. I'd say the majority of Christians believe in God as strongly as you don't believe. It would be an exercise in futility.

there is no reason to convert anyone to change what they believe but if you really think its necessary, just tell them to look at scientific facts and common sense.
