You're just a saint, aintchya.
$100,000 vehicle? that's funny. Do you have any idea of the number of people who actually drive a car worth that much?
Their cardboard sign would be worth more than MY car.
Do I stop for them? No.
Do I give them money? No.
Would I insult them by handing them MY empty cans? You're kidding.
Does it ever occur to me to give a Bible to a hungry person? Hardly.
Do I work full time trying to keep MY family alive plus spend a minimum 14 hours a week working in a homeless shelter, finding suitable work for the willing, cooking, being a counsellor and advocate, bringing additional food and essentials I paid for myself? Yes I do.
What are YOU doing when you're not feeling righteous about slowing down to toss bibles, small change and empty cans?

i've only seen a person like that once in my life and it was about 20 years ago when i was 10.
I do however stop for people broke down or walking with a gas can.
I am usually by myself or with the kids and still don't have an issue with stopping although my husband yells at me when he finds out.
God keeps us safe.
It all stems from 4th of July 3 years ago when my truck ran out of gas and me and 5 of my kids sat on the side of the high way for 4 hours before someone would stop and help us. So now I help anyone I see.
Kinda "Pay it Forward" thing.

The only time that I'll ever actually stop for them, is if I can afford to (or if I'm in a giving mood, which I am often). Sometimes if I stop at a Mcdonalds and I see someone standing on a corner near by, I'll order another cheeseburger for them. I decided to take the bus a couple of weeks ago, and while I was waiting I grabbed something to eat, there was a homeless man at the bus stop with me, so I bought him a double quarter pounder with cheese meal, he was very thankful, and we just sat there eating and talking for awhile. I believe that we all need to look out for eachother, afterall, we're all on this big chunk of rock floating through space together, and I really can't imagine being so selfish as to just enjoy it by myself =)

Sounds like someone has the anger sharks swimming in his head...Come on, some of us are nice like you, ok? Not everyone has a fancy smancy $100,000 vehicle. But yeah, I think I see what you mean. Don't worry, soon the earth's fuel resources will run out and we'll (as in us who don't have the pricey cars) be laughing because our bikes will still work!

I have been homeless before and got to know some people. A lot of the people on the side of the road are not homeless. I was riding with a friend once and we passed a lady with some kids holding a sign. my friend went to McDonalds bought some food and gave it to her. as we were leaving we happen to see the lady throw the bag of food into the trash. So from about then on I do not buy into the pity.

As I went through a drive-thru a couple of years ago, I saw a man standing in the parking lot holding a sign that said will work for food. So I thought I'd do the charitable thing and I bought him lunch. When I gave it to him, he threw it back at me and demanded money. That broke me from being nice to bums.

I am not stopping for anyone while driving on the highway, that is dangerous. If a car is broken down or theres been an accident, then iI will try to stop if I am able too, and offer my cell phone to use. I am not stopping for people holding signs and no im not mean either...its common sense.

I continually decelerate while there are human beings on the side of the line and circulate over faraway from them (probably even in the different lane if no person is coming) as a courtesy (no person needs a automobile to zoom by utilising them heavily at fifty 5 mph). As to assisting strangers who choose for help, as a woman I certainly tend to no longer end to %. up adult males, yet I certainly have helped women individuals who have been on the line. I oftentimes attempt to help with what's mandatory extremely than only giving money. case in point, a woman on the line substitute into as quickly as inquiring for money for bus fare. rather of giving her money, I drove her to the place she mandatory to be. you're precise, the Bible is amazingly clean approximately Christian charity. And maximum religions inspire the comparable form of habit.

Sometimes I guess when I get that generous feeling I will slow down to give them a little money. I've tried giving food before but the person only wanted money. One thing that did kind of piss me off and discourage me from giving was when I gave to this one man in front of a 7/11 store and I didn't really have to much money that day myself but gave him a few dollars, so I go in to buy a few things for school and he's in front of me to buy something and damn if he didn't pull out a very big wade of money. That pissed me off to see that he wasn't as broke as he pitifully played to be. That made me not want to give as much anymore.

No I don't
There are church groups and comminity centers and shelters set up for exactly this kind of thing.
Some (not all but some) of these people are looking for hand-outs so they can feed their drug habit.
I don't drive a 100,000 car (who does?)
I have a wife and 3 kids to worry about..somtimes we barely make it by as it is.
I feel bad for anyone in this situation and understand it is not always entirely their own doing, But their is little I can do to help. My family comes first
