Some dogs just don't like other animals. I have had labs and other breeds who were dog agressive. Perhaps she didn't get a lot of socialization with other animals before you got her? Also, Pit's were bred to fight other dogs, maybe more of her breeding is coming out then in other Pits. They have a bad name thanks to media and stupid people who fight, mistreat, misbreed, or don't read up on the breed of dog before they get one.

Staffordshires and APBT`s are not the same. There is no gameness in a Staffordshire and thus are not used for fighting.
The reputation of either dog will only get worse as amateurs, thugs ( morons) and BYB`s play the genetics game and RESPONSIBILITY is just another big word to them. You`ll will never hear of a true game dog owner`s dog attacking someone unprovoked. An APBT is a very dangerous dog in the hands of the above mentioned people. Any knowledgeable person or information source will state that it is a dog of which is not for everyone but people flock to get one because of their history.
Take the average person and tell them that their dog is of game blood and I guarantee they will go brag about it and stick their chest out a little further . I once told an idiot that his dog was descended from nothing but GD/CH dogs and he acted as if he`d won the lottery. He thought his dog was the baddest game dog in the state when the dog nor him had ever even been to a match much less even rolled. I believe he gave the "pet bull" to a good home and is continuing his career at McDonald`s. Good for him and the dog.

Well, the other answerer does not know where you live. There might not be a ban on "vicious" breeds like the pit bull.

Pit bulls can be dangerous. They've been bred to fight other dogs (in "pit" fights, hence the name) but when properly raised can be very good family pets. Some tolerate other packmates, others want to be the solo canine. Sounds like yours is the solo canine kind. Just resign yourself to having only the single dog, and when walking her, avoid other dogs. If it's truly a hardship, then you'll want to get professional help in training her and modifying her behavior. Good luck.

Your dog doesnt like other animals because pitbulls were bred to have a natural animal aggression, but on the other hand they have an endless obsession with people(they dont make good watch dogs unless abused) so it'll be close to impossible to get her to stop being animal aggressive, but you dont have to worry about her hurting anyone in your household.

American Staffordshire Terrier - perhaps if people would stop referring to them as pit bulls it might help break the stereotype.

A pit bull is a dog (bull) that has been bred and taught to fight in a ring (pit). People suck, that's why the American Staffordshire Terrier has a bad rep. - because people abused them and bred their worst traits rather than breeding to bring out the best.

Pit bulls can be territorial, but if they are socialized as a puppy, they tend to be less aggressive towards other dogs.If she isn't fixed all ready, I'd recommend getting her altered. The " Pack Instinct" does seem to be stronger in some breeds that others, like chihuahuas or huskies. Those breeds are also known to be territorial as well.

pitbulls are labeled due to their fighting history. they have jaws that can chew threw pure bone like THAT! some dogs just don't like other animals. i used to have a cat that didn't like contact with anything. you might reconsider not letting your child ride your dog like a horse. that can be hard on a dog, even though this breed is tough, they have to have their weaknesses.
