There is a basic difference between the 'Truth' in the Semitic religions and the eastern religions. In the former group it is the 'revealed truth' to Moses, or to Jesus or to Muhammad. But in Hinduism as well as Buddhism and Jainism which are upshot of Hinduism, the Truth is the realized Truth which has to be realized by every individual by treading the path and living a way of life based on Truth. Though the Truth is one, yet there are as many religions as there are experiences by mystics and preachers.

The main thing that has justified the starting up of so many different religions is the profit potential. Today's World Religions collectively receive $3 Billion a year in (tax free)donations. That's why they are able to diversify into Real Estate, etc, etc. The Faith stuff, that's for the followers.

The basic "truth" that justifies the presene of so many faiths, is that somewhere along the road, someone thinks that he/she has the answer to life and heads up a doctrine that governs the way people eat, sleep, think, etc. etc.

religion itself is a lie.

THATS why its called FAITH.
NOT TRUTH
THATS why its called BELIEF.
Not REALITY.

There are so many faiths because NONE OF THEM know whats TRUE. They all believe in a SO CALLED GOD that you cannot SEE, cannot HEAR, cannot TOUCH.

Because its a lie.

Its MADE UP by fools who have no brain to think with on their own and rely on CREATING GOD to think for them.

Its sad.

Mankind is doomed by his creation of a CONTROLLING distraction like religion.
