does a dog smell your private area? I know they smell your hands or body to get to "know" you but is it the same with smelling your privates? (serious answers please)

Dogs are able to tell an animals health and sexual activity by smelling the private parts. They are also able to tell when bitches are coming into heat by their scent. So it is considered normal and necessary doggy behavior to sniff each others privates. Just like we shake hands, they sniff each others butts! :-) You simply have to train your dog that it's not OK to do so on humans.

Yes, other than your armpits your privates contain a strong scent. Dog noses are so sensitive they can tell what sex you are and all kinds of other information about you by smelling your private area. Besides for most dogs its the closest area on a human body to their noses anyway. National Geographic did a tv special about dogs a couple of years ago and it was extremely interesting to hear all the things a dog can determine just by smelling. You may be able to rent it from your library or video store.

I'm not to sure but my best guess would be like the normal dog routine. Where the dogs smell each others buts.

they dont just smell cats and dogs not humans.

dogs smell ANYTHING that has an odor, they have a keen sense of smell perhaps 100 x more specific than humans.....change your underwear and they will lose the desire!

they do the same thing to other dogs/cats! i think it's like how they know if your a girl or guy!!!!
