Hmmm....
A 5:52 mile on a bike for your age is about average if you ask me....
I average about 17 mph on my mountain bike (not a light bike either it weighs about 28 pounds and is a hardtail) riding through the forest... up mountains... through mud and sometimes snow... Thats about a 3:53 mile and I'm just a recreational rider, I don't race...
I'm only 17 too and my sisters boyfriend often rides with me (he is 14) and he can keep up pretty good... But he has something to prove and is above average if you ask me... He is completely beat by the end of the rides tho... ;-)
I think 5:52 isn't bad but it could be better... Its a good start... take longer rides and you will see that you go faster... Also as you get older you will get more muscle mass and be able to go faster cause your legs become like tree trunks :-)
Keep riding... Its a fun way to stay healthy and you will find it is a good way to burn off "steam" as you grow up...

I think it's pretty good, but it depends on what you compare it to.
Elite runners under 15 do a lot better: In 2004, "Emily Pidgeon ran the fastest mile ever by a 14-year-old girl, recording 4:50.66 to win the junior women's race. Sarah Hopkinson in the same race ran what is believed to be the fastest recorded mile by a 12-year-old girl, 4:59.61. " (1)
If you ran in the "Taco Bell Classic" 1 mile race for Freshmen in 2005, you would have finished 12th out of 13 runners. (2)
On the other hand, according to the standards for the President's Physical Fitness Challenge, your time puts you in the top 5% for 14 year old boys. (3)
So you may not be ready for the Olympics (yet) but you are smoking everbody but the very best!

I used run cross country beforer, and Yes, 5.52 minutes a mile is not just good, it's very good for a 14. I believe if you keep the hard work you can probably make it under 4:50 in couple year.

I have a road bike and I regularly do a 2 mile loop around work (not exactly flat) in around 6 minutes with my fastest around 5:50. When I first started, I did it in around 7 minutes. On my mountain bike, I'd do it in about 6:35. I'm 41. I usually do about 10 laps on this loop.
It takes time to get used to cycling fast so just keep doing it and let your leg muscles and lungs get used to it. If you have gears, put in in a gear where you can keep spinning the pedals at around 90 rpm. Ride with faster people. They'l be glad to share pointers on how to ride fast.

I think you are referring to Biking. That is slightly below average for 1 mile, but if you could keep that kind of pace over a few miles it would be pretty good. It certainly is not bad though.
If you are speaking of running, that's pretty darn good.
