It depends if you fail or succeed at the mission. If the suspect succeeds then no, they wont go anywhere but to the morgue.
If the person fails, once they are sewn up or released from the hospital, depeding on the type of suicide they commit, they will get a free ride from local law enforcement to the Mental Hospital where they will be committed for an unknown amount of time.

Believe it or not,it is against the law in most states to committ suicide.
Now think about it,if you are sucessful in your attempt, just what is the legal system going to do to you?
Attempted suicide is against the law as well and as soon as you leave the confines of a pshyciatric facility. . usually a minimum of 24hrs but up to 72 hours, you will probably have a court date.
It is the legal responsibility of law enforcement to keep you from being a threat not only to others but to yourself.
You could be order to not only pay a fine/court costs but you could be ordered to probation and pshyciatiric counseling.
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and if you are thinking of suicide,PLEASE seek professional help.

While in most States it is against the law to take your own life, it usually isn't enforced in criminal court. The Police respond to try and prevent you from committing the act of harming yourself or others. But todays police are different from when "Back in the day" We'd have kicked your *** and taken you to jail. today the concern is getting the offender professional help. Usually its outpatient after a mental evaluation from a shrink.

They probably won't press charges to put you in jail, but they will send you to a mental institution. One of the differences is that with jail, you have a definite release date. In the institution, they can keep you until you are 'better.' In other words, as long as they damn well please.

Is life really that bad for you? Try calling the Psychic Hotline. Good luck!!

Maybe...

No the do not send you to a mental hospital. They take you for a "72 hour hold" to your local hospital and just put you in a psych wing where you will be evaluated by a doctor and hopefully get the help you need.

In some states it is a crime to attempt to take your own life. In my state it is NOT.

That is a really interesting question, considering that there are laws in some places that say it is illegal to commit suicide. I wonder too if it counts if someone doesn't succeed, or if "illegal" means jail time is involved.
