My boyfriend and I have been going out for approximately 6 months. Things have been getting a bit dry lately and we haven't been talking as much and getting close as much, and I feel like we need to revive our relationship. I'm also having trouble getting him to show me affection...without me initiating it first. He's very shy (it took him 2 months to ask me out) and I think that's part of why things always feel so awkward. I can hold his hand, I can hug him, I can cuddle with him, etc., but it seems like I always have to do all the work. I don't think this is a time for a breakup because I know that we still really like each other. We've made great memories together these 6 months and I don't want to call it quits just yet.

My question is, how can I revive my relationship with him and should I talk to him about me doing all the work in our relationship?

maybe you shouldn't do anything to see if he does..and if he doesn't maybe that's a wake up call to end it..if you are waiting for him to be conscious of your needs, that may take more than just a hammer to the head lol..quit trying so hard..if it's there it will be and if not, you will find someone else

my granny always said, 'never waste time on a man who won't waste time on you'..i think she was very wise

and no good relationship does one person do all the work and/or pursuing..if a guy is really into you, trust me, you will KNOW it

Sometimes you have to hold the reins. Your boyfriend might have had a really hard break-up previous to your relationship beginning. His heart might need more time to heal than you realize. Don't be pushy, and yes you will have to do all the work to initiate things and work him into the planning phase gently. He will come around and maybe let you know why he is like he is. If this relationship is worth saving, have patience,, it could last a lifetime.
