Should Icons Be
Used in Worship?
Cross: Jesus did not die on a cross. He died on a pole, or a stake. The Greek word translated "cross" in many Bibles meant just one piece of timber. The symbol of the cross comes from ancient false religions. The cross was not used or worshiped by the early Christians. Therefore, do you think it would be right to use a cross in worship?—Deuteronomy 7:26; 1 Corinthians 10:14.
The Early Christians
Consider what happened about the year 50 C.E. when the apostle Paul visited Athens, a city in which much emphasis was placed on the use of images in worship. Paul explained to the Athenians that God “does not dwell in handmade temples, neither is he attended to by human hands as if he needed anything . . . Therefore, . . . we ought not to imagine that the Divine Being is like gold or silver or stone, like something sculptured by the art and contrivance of man.”—Acts 17:24, 25, 29.
Guard yourselves from idols.” (1 John 5:21)
Worshiping “With Spirit and Truth”
Jesus told his listeners that God’s servants must worship “with spirit and truth.” (John 4:24) So when a sincere person seeks to know the truth about the use of icons in worship, he has to turn to God’s Word for enlightenment on the subject. Idols have no dealings with the true God.

I am a Christian, but never wear a cross. The only jewelry I wear is a wedding band. I prefer that my words and actions testify as to whom I serve. Also, you do not know there is no God, you are wishing and hoping. You cannot be intellectually honest and make that statement. Unless you are omniscient, knowing all knowledge of both the physical and spiritual realm and omnipresent, able to be in all places at all times, you cannot make that statement.

I wear a cross because i BELIEVE God is real. I have witnessed miracles that have no scientific explanation.
The fact that you think you KNOW God is not real is pretty bold and arrogant. How could you ever prove his non-existence?

I'm glad. A cross is a symbol of the Christian faith, it should not be a fashion statement.
So yea, I got a nice hand carved crucifix.
I appreciate you not imposing your atheism on me.

I don't wear a cross. Even though I'm Atheist/Agnostic, it seems that a crucifix is but a fashion symbol.
