3For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

Your thoughts?????

not often taught but there are forces of evil in heaven, see Ephesians, and they do interferr here on earth, in fact it seems this maybe their favorite play ground. Sometimes it seems to me we are chess pieces like the ones kings used to decide conflict instead of fighting with people (thats how the game started) This game may be far more complex.

When one gets His Spiritual eyes opened the Spiritual war becomes visible though not in it's entirety some of it here and there. Watch here on this site people are unwittingly taking part sometimes. I have identified a few who are pieces and some of the strategies and now as I watch the world the things I learn here in this microcosm can be seen more clearly in the world. Watch the war here for yourself there are so many pieces and strategies it is truly organized by an unseen player or 5 or more. Just keep watching with this in mind and perhaps you will get a chance to dislodge an enemy weapon, or convert a soldier unaware they are being used.

the first verse clearly states that those of us who believe do not wage war or fight because the world does, the next verse refers to the divine power which is all that we need to have to protect us thus relying on God, the third verse states that we do not get involved in minor disputes and the things that are not of our heavenly Father and our rule is to be true to that of Christ. The ultimate goal is to follow what Christ set for us to do. thus obedience is the main subject here.

Yes, our war is with Satan, not men

"We battle against powers and principalitites" the bible says.

Battle of good versus evil in the spiritual realm.

Read Ephesians 5 or 6 "the armour of God" to see the weapons of a Christian.

Thanks

Not only does it cover ideas and ideologies, as the previous poster mentioned, but it also covers actual spiritual warfare...

Ephesians 6: 12 states that "...we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age."

Daniel 10: 12-13 shows an example of this: Daniel was praying and fasting over a vision he received for three weeks until the 'messenger' appeared. According to the messenger, "...God has heard your prayers ever since the first day you decided to humble yourself in order to gain understanding. I have come in answer to your prayer," but, "...the angel prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief angels, came to help me, because I had been left there alone in Persia."

The casting out of demons in the New Testament is the most obvious example of this spiritual warfare, but suffice to say, the warfare we must concern ourselves with now is the one within. We, as humans, also have a spirit (aside from the body and soul), and this spirit is also a battleground being fought for by God and Satan. Thus, one must choose his side, and oppose the enemy for one's spirit.

I think spiritual warfare is fighting against the enemy's tactics in everyday life.
Every person gets tempted, or has a tendency to do the wrong things because of man's sensual nature.
We need to wage war against this behaviour and overcome all these through faith, trust and continual prayer to Jesus. He has gone through this earthly life and knows the trouble and perseverance it takes, that is why we can ALWAYS turn to Him, no matter how grievous our offences are, since He wishes to forgive us and allow us to live with Him in eternity with joy forever.

I'm thinking spiritual warfare has to do with praying, and speaking God's word against Satan and works of evil.

God for president, was my interpretation. lol

All it says that we should attack each other physically. It's okay to argue about it, but nothing that would cause physical damage....or not.

I haven't read the context i which this passage is written, so I can't say for sure it's meaning. But it sound like a war or words, at a glance.

The writers of the bible wanted to use an analogy with which the rest of humanity were familiar. War is second nature to humans.

religious conflict is while the devil non-provide up makes you experience something different than how that's that God needs you to experience; which includes depressed or unhappy. yet another occasion of religious conflict is while a individual continuously prays for something the guy who's praying is declared to be, "combating" for the reason for the different.
