check out the food guide pyramid and put in your info. It will give you detailed info on calories, food and exercise that your body needs to be healthy. Start in the navy blue box to the right (My pyramid plan)

If you're a normal, active young adult, it will be about 1500 - 2000 for women depending on your level of activity and height and between 2000 - 2500 for men depending on the same criteria. 1200 is the minimum number of calories your body can subsist on if you're trying to lose weight the healthy way.

it depends on the person.

metabolism... age... type of diet.. type of activity... if you're active it can range from 1200 to 2000 calories or a bit more...

inactive and dieting 1200 to 1000 ( i wouldn't go much less than that.. 1000 is way down there... way down!)

and caloric intake should vary from time to time anyways.

no more than 2000, if you are trying to lose weight, cut back to about 1200-1500 calories.
