Well, this question is hard for me to answer, since I do not love perfectly. I can only tell you my ideas and understanding, not my experience.

When one loves perfectly--which means without conditions, without resentments, without judgment--then one is free to be entirely present in the world, and thereby entirely present with other people. There are no hang-ups, unspoken irritations, side agendas, unacknowledged motives--just love. In the face of love, people are exposed. That is, in the face of goodness--when there is no other motive than love--it is hard for others to find a place to "seek cover," and so they either come out into the light, fully revealed as themselves, or else they run and hide under a rock, so as not to be seen.

But it is love that sees clearly. Untained by any selfish aim, uncomplicated by any denial or blindness. Love can see. It is all of the underhanded, shadows-dwelling stuff that causes dim vision.

So, if we could see as God sees, we would love perfectly. We would want nothing but grace, mercy, peace, and salvation for all we encountered. We would not get defensive or self-righteous or indignant. We would be absolutely unfettered by any of these human difficulties that cause us to war within ourselves, and therefore fight among each other.

The pure face of love is the face of God, and if we could--by Christ's mercy and God's grace--love like God loves, then others we encountered would be somehow transformed and find it mighty hard to deny that God overcomes all.

So, Jesus said that love was most important because otherwise, if we are following the letter of God's law but not abiding in its spirit, we are doing self-serving things, hoping to garner some favor with men or God. If we are doing it because we love God and all of his creation, then we have entered fully into a state of grace. Because the law is true and real--but we fail, because we are imperfect. If we loved perfectly, we would love the law.

If you notice, when we loves/ or have charity for one another ( in English, Charity would be a more appropriate word, since the word "love" is so misused today) , then we do not sin.
If we are charitable, we end up obeying all the other laws of Christ ! Of course the most imp rule is to first love God with all ur heart, mind, soul n strength,
Then love for ur neighbour follows.....
If u love ur neighbour, u would not lie, steal , commit adultery, lust, kill, etc etc.
