"Everything is relative"-Albert Einstein

I am not sure what you mean by most.

I guess the simplest answer that comes to my mind is
- because most doesn't have much choice.

What is interesting IMHO is that regardless of what those words really mean people make decisions about so called good and evil based on their own opinions. We do good by helping people have kids - and then the earth suffers from overcrowding. We build factories to help people get jobs, food for their families - and those same factories kill environment - us and the future generations.

What does 'good' or 'evil' mean anyway?

I know this will sound awful and possibly cynical but...
is killing a person any worse than watching whole nations being slaughtered ? is stealing worse than watching thousands of people starve to death ? It all depends on the point of view.

Is peace really so good or evil? Why is it good? Is it always good? Is it there, so our kids, husbands, brothers and sister don't die in any wars?

But what if wars are natural? Regardless of the reasons - what if universe needs them to cleanse itself ? I don't know. I am just sitting here wondering what is the real reason for all the suffering. There must be one - and it is probably not as trivial as greed - I don't think so.

And I don't think that people are good or bad. I think they just are and what they are seen as depends where they are, who they are and who is looking at them.

I believe that 10 commandments were just metaphors to ease our start into the life and it is scary that thousands years later
we are still so immature that we believe in them so literally.

It's true. Everything is just that - a thing. We react to it and give it emotion and label it good or bad. Even in the 10 commandments - though shall not steal for example. A thief could be considered a sinner, but the impoverished mother who steals food for her children, not so much. It's all a matter of perspective. Killing another for no reason might be considered a sin, but killing another to end their suffering might be considered a blessing.

We are taught as children to label and class and categorize things - then we get older and find it doesn't really help us any more. Fortunately, at least some of us seem to be growing out of that sort of thing.

Peace!

Because whether people want to admit or not everyone believes in good and evil. For example: if someone rapes your mom you and your mom and society and the guy down the street believe it's evil. Even the rapist believes this or he wouldn't run away.

To not believe in good and evil means you can't judge whether a person's actions are right or wrong and therefore would mean everyone could do anything they want without anything being said. If you really believe this then you cannot, in all logic, speak out against anything. Including someone raping your mom, killing you, or stealing your property. Good luck with that.

A view I share...Evil is mush like beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder.

Evil is relative, as is everything else. So one must pose the question: Why do people judge others on relative topics?

Some questions, I'm afraid, will not be answered in this lifetime. Maybe not in the next...who knows. What I believe in is relative! How can we be sure?

Thank you for your question, it got me thinking about my own that I had lost long ago, and you have helped me find them again!

This is actually the ultimate belief of evolution. If there is no Almighty Creator to whom we all must give account then our laws must be based on what is acceptable to the majority in our society. If this is the case and I can convince a majority that so-and-so is unnecessary and should die to weed out that which is not part of the fittest, then that would be perfectly alright.

If the act is only good for you but evil to others , you might as well don't do it.
