Well in human terms he did not do the right thing as he was not convinced about the charges against Jesus; but, this was God's plan, so what he did was part of what had to be.

Is it ever right to condemn the innocent, and aquit the guilty? No, it isn't. However, even in the midst of his political sin, Pilate was fulfilling his destiny and offering up the one sacrifice that would take away his (and everybody elses') condemnation.

Sort of a Catch 22.

Of course not.
Pontius knew that Christ was innocent.
Yet he handed Him over to be crucified because he was afraid for his position since the Jewish authorities were hell-bent on seeing CHrist murdered.

Many a time, when we take decisions with a view to getting men's approval, we make the same mistake as Pilate did. It may not be as disastrous as such ... like having someone else killed.... but the "sin" is the same!

Pilate fulfilled his destiny. Some people have no control of certain things, and this was just another instance of this. Judas, Caiaphas, and Annas are the same way.

to some it seems like he didn't but he did because he he wouldn't have let the people decide he probably wouldnt hav killed him and then the prophecy of Jesus dying to save all believers wouldn't have been fulfilled so yes he did do the eight thing for us. It was part of God's plan to save all the believers

Yea he did. Guy was brainwashing people and causing rebellions. I would of had that guy put in shackles and till my field if not crucified. Let him duke it out with the lions in the arena.
