Yes, I shouldn't call them as retards as people use them as bad terms.

An in a position minded guy or woman, will possibly no longer have the flexibility to love a mentally retarded guy or woman, yet 2 mentally retarded human beings could desire to fall in love and have each and all the failings in a dating that in a position minded human beings have. particular, existence would not be uncomplicated for them, with the scrutiny that occurs, and that they might ought to go through somewhat some judgement, yet i think of they may be nice. There are diverse tiers of 'retardation' and a few human beings, as quickly as given a guess can lead 'popular' lives, inspite of their disabilities.

I have never been in a romantic relationship with one but I have delt with people of that nature. I fine they are accutaly more friendly and open then most "normal people". It is a great thing you have a relationship with this person and don't let anyone tell you diffrent.
I hope this question is not a joke.
p.s Retard is not a medically correct term.. You might want to look up some better phrases.

You want to know what dating a mental retarded is like? Ask your date...he is dating a retard too (you!) ...Have you noticed that you refer to that person as a thing? you call him "it" !!!! In your first paragraph you write "The need to protect and cherish it"...gee! you are talking about people you know! not pets!...
So, let me make my point here...if there is anyone having the experience of dating a mental retarded, that must be your date.
Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude...or did I?
Sorry anyway.

The first thing that you need to do to protect them is learn what to and not to call them. These people are not "retards". That is as bad as calling a black person the n word. These people are mentally handicapped, or mentally disabled or are mentally challenged. Any of these terms would be appropriate to use.

Well if you really are in "LOVE" with one, you should start off by calling them the politically correct term which is "mentally challenged" or "mentally disabled."
Retard is a very ugly word that is disrespectful and rather demeaning.
Please tell me you did not post this question as a joke to be funny, because it is not funny and anybody would find this offensive, think of all the people out there who have family that are disabled.
But, if you are being genuine and really do love her, don't let anyone try to deter you from loving her. Love knows no bounds (age, color, religion, disabilities, intelligence levels..etc.). Good luck to you both and God bless! :)

hmmm....first of all referring to someone that you care about as a retard is not very nice. Saying that they have mental retardation sounds a little better.
I actually work with developmentally disabled adults, and they are very sweet and loving. It all depends on their level of cognition as to what the person is like to interact with though. I'm still not really sure what your question is. If you have feelings for someone then you should know what it is like to be around this person.

Ok first of all retarded is not a medical term, its a degrading term used to insult someone that has a physical or mental handicap, and they are people not "its" as you so pleasantly put it.
As far as Im concerned you are the retard.

yo shouldn't call this person a "retard" if you actually care about them. Their mental state has nothing to do with the feelings one has for you or vice versa.
