My dogs are like my kids to, sometime my kids (grown) get mad at the way I treat my dogs. I would think turkey would be good for them. My babies will get some..

I have three rescues that are on pretty strict diets but on occasion I splurge, but in small portions. One had bouts with Pancreatitis in her history so I avoid giving her fats but will let her have a small piece of turkey, a little bite of dressing without gravy a tad of cranberry sauce. Same for the others for the sake of maintaining their health. I wouldn't want to give them a feast of it because I wouldn't want to make them sick or give them diarrhea. But yes, I think giving a small plate with some bits of a few goodies is great. Some dogs can handle more without getting sick. Dogs don't do good on human diets on a regular basis but most sure do like treats from the table from time to time. At least mine enjoy that. Check to be sure any foods you will be letting them sample are not things that are toxic to dogs because some things seem like they would be okay but aren't good for them. Happy Thanksgiving, in advance, to you and yours.

As with humans, and any animal really ... moderation is the key. If you only give your dogs table scraps on Thanksgiving, that's great! They are like kids, and they do deserve rewards for good behavior. However, table scraps on a daily basis will make your pups pudge right up! And given that they are such small-sized dogs, their back and legs will be severely harmed if they become obese!

So, just be careful with the human food/milkbones/etc. :o)

Well I love my little puppies too and I use to give them scraps from the table, but then they stopped eating there dog food. I called the vet and asked what to do and she said mix chicken broth with the dog food and my dogs love it. It's like a treat and it OK for them to eat. You should try it.

I give my Miniature Schnauzers treats every now and again too. The chocolate thing is true but only for certain breeds. However, for a treat that will be good to them and also healthy is Chicken and rice, my dogs Love it, and my vet reccomends i give it too them when they're sick too. Well hope your babies have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

nothing too salty is okay. ham can give them a REALLY bad stomach disease that is fatal so stay away from that! and make sure the food isn't filled with chemicals. a little turkey, or mashed potates shoudn't hurt i did hear somewhere that garlic is bad for dogs so you might wan to look into that.
but i don't think it is crazy or anything.

I do it most of the time but she always end up messing the dinner table.I guess if you do really treat her as a part of the family it doesnt matter much. Its just about clearing up the mess.We always had fun every year.Thats the only time she gets to eat from the table.

I give my pup table scraps, but be careful about overdoing it if he's not used to getting human food as it might give him diahrrea. I like to include my pets in holidays too, I even get them each a gift on christmas morning with my kids.

yep it's okay...put in mind though that it's not too salty or much preservatives had been added...key to dog feeding is to keep food as natural as possible coz they don't react to chemicals same way as humans do...and don't feed them more than required...so a thanksgiving dinner treat could be in replacement of their usual dinner

I did that same thing once....my dog had a fit of puking shortly afterwards. Cut the turkey neck in half and give it to them raw instead.
