om a neh padme hoom a Sanskrit praise of the jewel of blah blah blah
nom mio ho ren gai kyo a zen mantra
gate gate para gate parasome gate bodhi swaha
this last one I will try to translate from the sankrit
some thing like: far far away beyond far away I come to give you homage when chanting it is advisable to find the frequency that makes your nose vibrate

I am so used to chanting OM namah Shivaya. I consider it very sacred, because of great respect i give to lord Shiva. The manta means salutations with respect to Shiva.

If you are talking about for meditation purposes, I do not chant. I do use the breathing technique, though.

I have found that "Duhhhh...", followed by a self-administered dope-slap to the forehead is quite effective.

Duhhh... (smack)... duhhh... (smack)... etc. Repeat until all delusional religious beliefs disappear.

I say 'Hummmmm' over and over again until my mind is clear my p.e. teacher taught it us in 7th grade it means nothing but it works.
