but, I've only just thought of something... how do we handle the sleeping arrangements? I usually leave my bedroom door cracked so T-Bone can come and go as he pleases, sometimes he sleeps with me, sometimes in the chair in the living room... but what if they *both* want to sleep with me, I'm not sure there's enough room in the bed...

some will remember from a previous question, Jayde has been an outdoor dog for the past 4 months... first things first, she walks in the door and gets a BATH!

When we got our new dog (who also was an outdoor dog at his previous home) we let him choose where to sleep.. as long as we were sure he was behaving at night (aka.. not pooping or peeing or tearing things up!) Our other dog sleeps in our room every night, but we wanted the new dog to do what was most comfortable for him. Sometimes he wants to be with us.. sometimes he doesnt, and he will sleep in the living room. We left it up to him and it seemed to work out well.. it was a bit tense the first few nights if he did choose to come in our room, because our girl was jealous.. but they worked it out. Other thing is we dont let them get on the bed. We used to let the girl get up there when it was just her.. but we have a Cali King and even with that size of bed, two 90 pound dogs and two adults is two too much! By forcing them to stay on the floor, they have learned we are in charge and they need to sleep where we tell them

Obviously it will take some time for Jayde to settle in and find her spots. I would play it by ear for the first week or so. Start out by letting her go on a tour of the house. Ease her into the bath thing so it's a "good experience". Give her time to explore and look around.

I suggest making her a bed once she finds a spot and settles, old blanket will do if you don't have a doggie bed. Leave the bedroom door open so she knows where you are. TBone may end up setting a boundary, at least at first. He may let her know it is his place with you and she may go find a spot.

I now have 4 bigger girls and I normally find my spot on the bed with at least 3 of those, a cat and the chi(under the covers) After they all get some loving they will reposition and some will go elsewhere to sleep. Cuts way down on the heating bill!

It will be a learning process at first. You still have to set guidelines as pack leader as to what you want. First thing is to get her settled into home, see how it goes and then decide if you need to make changes. Have fun with your babies.

I Would Crate The New Dog Until He Is Fully Potty Trained. He Should Still Use The Crate After That But It Isnt Required.

It's natural for your dogs to want to spend lots of time with u, especially when you go to sleep. Even if you bring a basket or blanket for them to sleep on next to your bed, they'll love it because they'll be close to you!!! My dogs luv it :)
